Tanyo RaviczAlaskans bookOn Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. the Palm Springs Public Library will welcome Author Tanyo Ravicz. He will discuss his book Alaskans.

This book, a series of ten fiction short stories, paints unforgettable portraits of Alaskans in all walks of life. A firefighter confronts his mixed identity as a wildfire rages; an unlucky fisherman falls in love with a saint; friends hunt for happiness at the top of the world; rivals meet over the grave of the man they loved; a teenager discovers one of the perils of cannery work. Through these stories Ravicz showcases an Alaska that few know.

Tanyo Ravicz is the author of the prize-winning novel, A Man of His Village, which tells the story of a migrant worker’s journey from Mexico to Alaska, and Ring of Fire and Other Stories, a collection of short fiction set in Alaska. After attending Harvard University, Ravicz lived in the North for many years, and he returns regularly to his Alaska homestead. He resides in California with his family.

The lecture is FREE and open to the public, but seating is limited. The lecture will be presented in The Learning Center at the Library. Books will be available for sale and for autographs following the lecture.
